Our Teaching Method...
Experience a time-honored way to learn and appreciate music.
Handing down a special touch which makes the instrument sing. Developing, with practice, a response ... a feel .. a relationship with the instrument ... until the music becomes part of you, and you become part of the music.
Our highly-trained instructors tailor lessons to each student's skills and interest. We develop techniques for classical, jazz, contempory, and popular music pieces.
European School of Music & Chess has unique teaching methods, which follow the fundamental principles of classical pedagogy, and the priceless heritage of world-renowned composers and music performers. The European School of Music method of teaching not only significantly develops musical abilities, understanding of music, and a long-lasting love of music, but also develops focus, memory, and attention, as well as helps to improve math reasoning, language, and social skills -- all of which help students reach their full academic potential. In addition to music lessons, individual chess instruction at our school helps to develop logical thought processes, analytic abilities, concentration, and creativity that helps student to succeed in music and academic studies. The school also teaches the relaxation techniques that are extremely important in music studies and can be beneficial in every aspect of people’s lives.
The most important goal of European School of Music & Chess is to teach students how to feel the music and truly appreciate it, as well as significantly develop intellectual capabilities, through the enormous power of music and chess.

My two sons, now 13 and 10 years old, have been studying piano at the school for approx. 5-6 years. They had the same teacher for their first phase of tuition (~5 years). She had the magic formula of keeping the instruction flexible and systematic, but without pressure. Our two children have very different capabilities and learning styles, but this school has managed to get the best out of both. In January this year, after a Christmas recital, the director of the school advised us that the boys, especially my older son, might consider changing piano teacher to experience instruction in different musical styles, piano ensembles, and for competition. It was a hard decision, but we made the change. Their playing has continued to improve greatly which is very satisfying. I value the school for many reasons: It has been able to adapt the instruction for each of my sons; it reviews the progress of students during lessons and during recitals and periodically makes adjustments for the students; it is easy to maintain a good dialog with the teachers and the director, who are both engaged and supportive; and the school has its own recital hall with two grand pianos on stage which we can use occasionally for practice and videos. Finally, the school does not have any snobbery regarding musical styles or genres. It is rooted in European classical music, but it embraces modern composers and popular music too, an important element for us.

Research indicates that it is particularly beneficial to start learning music at a very young age. This will not only help child development but create a long-lasting love and appreciation for music. Our music beginnings program, intended for 3 - 4 year olds, will immerse kids into the world of music exploration by listening, singing, moving to music, and playing on xylophones.

"Anthony has been playing drums with Carlos at the European School of Music for more than 2 years. Carlos is wonderful! He is knowledgeable and patient and really enjoys working with his students. Anthony loves his “jam sessions” with Carlos. He thinks it is “really cool” to tell people that he plays the drums. Since he began playing, we have seen an improvement in his academic performance and his confidence. It is a great stress reducer too."
