- Our voice students will learn fundamentals such as proper posture, breathing exercises, vocal cord warm-up exercises, as well as techniques to improve diction and articulation.
- Regardless of level, we teach beginners or advanced voice students how to preserve their true voice and expand their vocal range without harm.
- Our voice students learn how to gain control of their entire body, and in particular, the muscles involved in efficient breathing and vocal cord function.
- Step by step, you will learn how to master the mechanisms of diaphragm breathing, and relaxation techniques. Among other things, our vocal instructors help students build a strong column of air to support the vocal cords and direct the voice to the right place. This is vital for development of the voice and to produce a beautiful tone.
- Our voice students are learning about resonance and how to visualize it. This is vital for understanding proper vocal technique to produce a beautiful singing tone. The air flows through the lungs, and as soon as it does, the exhale travels to the vocal folds inside, it carries the sound wave throughout the bones of the skull, face, and chest. Singers call this phenomenon "rolling" the sound.
This chart helps to visualize how the resonance moves inside the bones. This helps students understand the process better, and succeed in learning.
Though these techniques are known, they are not often taught in a way that produces optimal results. Unlike common teaching, our teachers have expert in pedagogical approach that enables students to use these techniques in the right way so they can learn to sing well. Our vocal teaching method is rooted in the time honored Italian “bel canto” vocal technique, which traces back to the genius music of Giuseppe Verdi, Gioachino Rossini, and Giacomo Puccini. It is the foundation of the renowned Three Tenors – Pavarotti, Domingo, and Carreras, incredible popularity as well as the success of the best music theatre performers. The way we teach at European School of Music follows this tradition and enables students to succeed and sing beautifully no matter which style of music they choose - classical, music theater, or pop.
In this video, the members of the Eastern European Dagilėlis Boy Choir from Lithuania use the same foundational European vocal techniques that we teach. Thanks to this technique, they were able to imitate a live forest while performing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" Our voice lessons will not only improve solo singing but also any type of choir singing.
